Do you need a keratin treatment?

September 25, 2017

Are you tired of your frizzy hair? Get N 2 Beauty smooth talks about how to smooth your hair non-chemically with a keratin process helping to Beautify You!

What is a keratin treatment?
• Get N 2 Beauty gives education to beautify. Our purpose is to uplift, enourage, inspire and enhance the beauty within.  Today the topic of beautification is the keratin treatment.
• What is a keratin treatment?
o Keratin treatment is a smoothing treatment that uses the protein keratin, which our hair is composed of, to coat the hair and smooth the cuticle so the hair has less frizz.
• How it works
o Keratin is a non-chemical process meaning it does not change the composition of the hair. In my example, I use a spiral staircase to help with understanding the process. When relaxing, which is a chemical process, the spiral staircase or a hair strand is cut op the center and completely rearranged to form a straight step ladder. With a keratin, the stair case is coated with keratin protein, without changing the original shape, and smooths the staircase, in this example the hair cuticle. When the protein inserts between the spaces it creates an elongated curl from the filling of those spaces. This creates smoother hair and less frizz.
• The brand I use
o Agave- This is for professional use by a licensed cosmetologist. There is no Formaldehyde or formaldehyde derivatives. It meets OSHA and FDA standards and it transforms hair leaving it sleek & manageable for up to 12 weeks.
• How long does it last?
o Lots of brands give a 12 week lasting time. I recommend reapplying when the clients hair becomes less manageable or looks and feels like it needs it. I have clients with fine less coarse hair that get there keratin’s every 12 to 15 months. You want to maintain healthy hair.
• How long it takes
o Timing depends on the length of the hair. I have done keratin’s that have taken me 6 hours because of the length and thickness of the hair. I give a starting timing of approximately 3 hours.
